Stop 2 of the North Face Masters at Crystal Mountain

I was so excited to return to Crystal mountain again this year, its a really fun mountain. Leading up to the event Washington had seen a lot of rain so I was interested to see how the conditions were. With a serious melt freeze crust we were relieved to be on hold for a weather day as Crystal recieved 6 inches of fresh snow. Hiding underneath the fresh snow it was still pretty crunchy, which had us all a little nervous. As it was part of the World Freeride Tour they pre-qualified the athletes from the world tour and 5 women and 10 men too which meant there were fewer spot left to go through to the finals ,so the pressure was on. I was so stoked on my run, I managed to find some pow then sucessfully dropped into a powder filled chute. Unfortunately I got hooked up on some frozen bumps near the bottom which caused me to fall, I hoped my line was enough to carry me through. Not to be, I qualified 12th and just missed the cut for the finals... BUMMED!! The finals day on Silverking was gnarly! It was so icy, and it was interesting to see how the finalists and the pre qualifiers handled it. Those that stayed on their feet found success that day! I was so stoked for my friend Casey Lucas who showed awesome control and style in some seriously challenging conditions taking 3rd place.

I am so looking forward to the next and final stop of the North Face Masters Tour for 2011 in Kirkwood California......this is going to be good!

Oh and apologies for the lack of quality of the photo from the event...I took it off video footage!
