North Face Masters Snowbird finally went ahead after the mega storm
After 2 days of weather hold we anxiously waited up at the top of the tram to hear if they could run the event. The visibility was bad on the course and they didnt know if the judges would be able to see our runs. In the end they decided to run the event by spacing the judges out, one up high, one in the middle and 2 down the bottom. We were on the last allocated day for the comp, so it was to be a one run competition!! I was 5th to go, which was great as I got to ride some awesome snow.
The venue for the comp was closed the day before the event for avalanche control. I really wanted to get in there and check out my new line after I found out that my other line was off limits due to a slide. I got to take one run through to have a look, but after that I worked off photos to piece it together. I really enjoyed my run and I liked my line, but unfortunately I missed some of the drops that I had planned to hit. Bummer. I got placed 20th.
Lesson learned...always have a backup line plan in case of unforseen changes to the venue!
I'm really looking forward to the next stop of the tour at Crystal Mountain Washington on the 9th of Febuary. I got to check out Crystal last year, its a great mountain, i'm excited that the event is there!
