Colorado Freeride Championships Snowmass
It was a last minute decision to head to Colorado, but i'm glad I did! I had been to this contest once, 4 years ago, it was the second big mountain comp that I had ever done. Last week I read on facebook, only 2 days before it was due to start that it was on....so I thought why not?! I drove to Reno the next morning and flew to Denver. We had a weather day the first day as the visibility was low, and it was really windy and snowing. The next day we were nearly on hold again but the organisers decided to put the snowboarders and womens skiers on the finals day venue for a one run competition as we were running out of time. We had one run to look through the venue, it had a lot of options, and a lot of pillow lines! As I was the 3rd competitior to come through I chose a pillow line, and it was just that! Untracked soft landings, always good. I placed first and walked away 2011 Colorado Freeride womens snowboard champion, with $500 bucks and a Contour helmet cam...nice!!!
